Focused on Strong, Reliable IT Support
We exist to give businesses the confidence that their systems are protected, monitored, and supported by a team committed to strong security and fast, consistent help.

How Direct Connect Got Its Start
Jim Conley founded Direct Connect Computer Systems in 1992 after seeing how difficult it was for small businesses to find appropriate technology and dependable support. His interest in computers began while serving in the U.S. Army in the early 1980s, where he worked with computers in administrative units after enlisting as an infantryman.
After returning home, Jim worked as an IT program analyst in banking. He also opened the first record store in Geauga County and later joined a computer sales and service company in downtown Cleveland. Those experiences gave him both sides of the story: the technology professional’s perspective and the business owner’s frustration when systems fail, support is slow, or recommendations do not fit the organization.
Jim started Direct Connect to give small businesses clear guidance, responsive help, and technology suited to their actual needs. As a hands-on founder and CEO, he remains involved in technical strategy, sales, and client relationships. Co-owner and business manager Sonya Conley helps guide the family-owned company’s day-to-day operations.
Direct Connect now supports small businesses across Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. Jim also co-authored How To Find The “Best Fit” IT Management Company For Your Business to help owners evaluate technology consultants, understand their choices, and make informed decisions without getting lost in technical jargon.
How We Work with Clients
Our operating principles reflect the lessons Jim learned as both a technology professional and a small-business owner.
Speak Plainly
Clients deserve useful explanations, not an alphabet soup of acronyms. We explain concerns, options, and recommendations in language that supports confident business decisions.
Take Ownership
We do not want clients coordinating several vendors or wondering who is responsible. Our team helps manage technology concerns and vendor relationships with clear accountability.
Stay Involved
Technology support should continue after the immediate problem is resolved. We monitor, maintain, and plan so clients can address aging systems, security concerns, backups, and future needs more proactively.
Build for the Long Term
Strong working relationships grow through consistency, responsiveness, and honest guidance. We approach each decision with the client’s ongoing operations and business priorities in mind.
Let’s Make Technology One Less Daily Distraction
Schedule a consultation to talk through your current IT frustrations, priorities, and business needs. You will get a straightforward conversation about where support may be falling short and what a practical next step could look like.
