An URGENT Security Warning if Your Law Firm is Running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008

Date: June 24, 2019

From: Jim Conley, President

Direct Connect Computer Systems

If your organization is currently running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008, you need to know about a dangerous security threat to your organization that must be addressed by the end of this year. Please take a moment to read this important announcement.

Dear Managing Partner,

My name is Jim Conley, President of Direct Connect Computer Systems and a Microsoft Partner. We are aggressively attempting to reach as many law firms within the Cleveland area that are still using Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008. This is to alert you of a serious security risk to your firm and inform you of the measures needed to implement and protect your law firm going into 2020.

Microsoft has officially announced that it will retire support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 operating systems on January 14, 2020. That means any computer or server with these operating systems will be exposed and vulnerable to serious hacker attacks. These attacks aimed at taking control of your network, steal or encrypt your data, crash your network system, or inflict a host of other business-disruptive problems that could cost you thousands to recover from.

This is such a serious threat that all companies housing financial and medical information are being required by law and mandated for compliancy to upgrade any and all computer systems running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008.

As a local Microsoft Partner, my company is committed to helping law firms in the Cleveland area by offering a Free Risk Assessment and Migration Plan.

Our Free Risk Assessment and Migration Plan will show you the easiest, most budget-friendly way to upgrade!

At no cost, we’ll come to your firm and conduct a Risk Assessment, to not only determine what specific computers and servers will be affected by this announcement, but also to assess other backup and security factors that could be costing you in efficiency, productivity and bottom-line dollars.

We’ll then put together a customized Migration Plan and show you how to painlessly upgrade your old Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 computers, while simultaneously:

  • Giving you a disaster recovery plan and the peace of mind that comes with it. You’ll never lose data due to a server crash, hardware failure, employee mistake, fire or other damaging disaster.
  • Lowering your IT support and unexpected maintenance costs. We offer custom tailored solutions to your business needs and budget.

In closing, I’d like to assure you that this process will not be a pressure sales meeting, but an informative consultation that will arm you with the information and facts you need to best address this potential issue. If after this meeting, should you decide to move forward with our recommendations, we’ll welcome that opportunity. However, if you choose to take another direction, that’s fine too.

I will have Alex from my office call within the week to make sure you’ve seen this letter and to schedule your Free Risk Assessment. I highly recommend you do not delay - the integrity of your data could be at risk.

Important:

Due to the intensive one-on-one time required to conduct these Risk Assessments, we can only make them available for free until July 31st. Please contact us today.

Note: If you are uncertain as to whether or not you have computers with Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 operating systems, give us a call. Part of our onsite Assessment will be to run a full inventory of all servers, desktops and laptops connected to your network.

“Remotely accessing our office computer system has made this pandemic stress free and manageable for me and my staff!”

Our business has continued uninterrupted and without any issues whatsoever. I still find it amazing that I can print documents from my office computer directly to my home printer without saving the documents first and emailing them to myself.  I am so grateful that we are working with your company.  There is such comfort knowing that your business is continually monitoring and supporting our business and ensuring that we are as technologically advanced as possible.

Kathy T. Joseph, Esq. Kathryn T. Joseph & Associates
“At the onset of this global pandemic, Direct Connect was immediately prepared to implement remote capabilities.”

As is the case with any service Direct Connect has ever provided over the past 15 years, their team provided prompt and professional service at the onset of the pandemic. We had zero interruption to our staff and more importantly our need to service our clients.

Jim and Sonya and the staff at Direct Connect are a trustworthy IT support source and more importantly are trustworthy and outstanding individuals.

Joseph K. Rosalina, Esq. Russo, Rosalina & Co. LPA
“Direct Connect is responsive to our questions and concerns, and treats us with courtesy and professionalism.”

“Since hiring Direct Connect, I have peace of mind knowing that everything consistently works. Having been through several IT firms in my career, none were able to provide the comprehensive approach to our particular IT needs, nor the prompt and respectful support like Direct Connect! Direct Connect is responsive to our questions and concerns, and treats us with courtesy and professionalism – traits seemingly lost in an IT industry dominated by know-it-all techs with bad attitudes.”
